Although free agency doesn’t officially begin until Tuesday, teams have been given the go-ahead to start talking to players and their agents about hopes of them joining their rosters.
As of now, many teams have already agreed to contracts with prospective players, and the only team we care about has reportedly agreed to new contracts with two.
It has been reported that the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a contract with Frank Gore, the 49ers all-time leading rusher.
The deal is not yet known since it is not official, but according to Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports, we know it will be somewhere around this area:
As I stated earlier in the week, Frank Gore would be a beneficial move for the Eagles. He’s a north/south runner who has the same production as McCoy at a much cheaper rate. McCoy had 312 carries for 1,319 yds with a 4.2avg. Gore had 255 carries for 1,106yds with a 4.3avg. Mccoy had 57 more carries and 213 more yards than Gore, but only averaged 3.7 yards with the extra mileage. If we were to project Gore’s numbers with the extra carries, one could say he would have had a better season than Shady if not the exact same.
I love this signing by the Eagles. Gore for a year or two, with Polk, and Sproles for a change of pass/receiving-back is a key recipe for winning. Gore is also about $6-million cheaper than McCoy.
The other Eagles rumor floating around is an agreement between the franchise and top free agent cornerback Byron Maxwell.
According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Maxwell spoke to her on the phone and the CB told Anderson, “I’m going to Philly.”
The deal is reportedly circa $63 Million for about six years, yet again, will not be official till Tuesday.

Maxwell was the top free agent cornerback on the market and will help solidify the Eagles secondary. As of now, we will have to wait and see just who Maxwell and Jenkins running mates will be.
One boost of confidence for Eagles fans along with Maxwell came from now former teammate Richard Sherman. A fan on Twitter reached out to Sherman to ask about his ex- Legion of Boom running mate and this is what was said:
Sherman and Maxwell may be buddies, nevertheless, that’s a huge statement coming from arguably the best CB in football.
Extra buzz around the league:
- According to NJ.com reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks, The Eagles are seriously pursuing Patriots FS Devin McCourty per an undisclosed source. To me, McCourty is the best free safety in football. If McCourty was added to the Eagles secondary they would instantly become a top team in that area, a major 180 in just a year’s time.
- Eagles and Titans are among the few teams interested in QB Mark Sanchez. Although Sanchez can get exposed as a starter, he is still a decent back up who could come in and win some games if he had too. However, If Sanchez was asked to play 8+ games he could eventually end your season as he did this past year.
- The Eagles are still trying to make a strong push for top offseason priority Jeremy Maclin:
Free agency has already been fun in Philadelphia, with plenty of money to spend lets all hope the Eagles continue to spend it, but if they do continue to spend it, hopefully they spend it wisely.
