Philly stand up! We got a 215er fighting in Saturday’s event and he’s going to win. Philly’s own Sean Brady is facing Ismail Naurdiev to kick the night of fights off. Apart from that, we’ve got to crown someone a Flyweight champ tonight. Let’s get into my picks for the night and what could happen after. LETS GO!
The Main Card kicks off at 8:00PM EST. Picks in bold via OddShark
WELTERWEIGHT BOUT: Sean Brady (-105) vs Ismail Naurdiev (-125)
I don’t usually dig into the prelims, but tonight is a special occasion. 215 native Sean Brady, who has an undefeated career record of 11-0-0 and won his only UFC fight so far, is going against Ismail Naurdiev, who holds a 19-3-0 career record and a 2-1-0 UFC record. Brady has 7 finishes in his career, and I’m expecting him to do it again tonight. He’s going to put on for Philly and he’s going to maul this fight. Brady by 2nd Round TKO.
(skipping to the main card)
FEATHERWEIGHT BOUT: Grant Dawson (-400) vs Darrick Minner (+300)
What a dud this one is going to be. Grant Dawson holds a 14-1-0 pro record and a 2-0-0 UFC record. He’s facing Darrick Minner, who holds a pro record of 21-10-0 and is making his UFC debut in this one. It’s not going to be a pretty debut for Minner. Dawson is a bright one for the UFC and he’s going to extend this little win streak he has going on with a 1st Round TKO.
W FEATHERWEIGHT BOUT: Megan Anderson (-230) vs Norma Dumont (+180)
Another UFC debut tonight. Megan Anderson, who has a 10-4-0 pro record and a 2-2-0 UFC record, is facing new commer Norma Dumont, who has an undefeated pro record of 4-0-0. Dumont is making her debut vs a physical freak. Megan Anderson is up there in one of the best fights to look at, but she should also be up there for the amount of talent she has. She’s 6’0 and that is TALL. She makes a lot of guys feel insecure about the height, so I’ve been told. Anyway. I’m feeling a Megan Anderson head kick KO.
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT: Ion Cutelaba (+170) vs Magomed Ankalaev (-210)
This guy’s nickname is “The Hulk.” You expect me to pick against that? Hell no. Ion Cutelaba, is 15-4-0 (1 NC), and is 4-3-0 in the UFC. He’s going against Magomed Ankalaev, who is 12-1-0 in his pro career and 3-1-0 in the UFC. Ion is aggressive, in your face, doesn’t let you breathe kind of fighter that you never want to go against. He’s wild. He lands 39% of what he throws, but damn is that exciting to watch. He better hopes he doesn’t get past round 1, because he’ll slow down. Magomed is on a 3 fight win streak, but it’s not going to continue. The Hulk via KO.
W FEATHERWEIGHT BOUT (CO-MAIN): Felicia Spencer (-800) vs Zarah Fairn (-500)
Poor Zarah Fairn. She holds a 6-3-0 pro record and lost the only UFC fight she’s been in. She goes against “The FeeNom” Felicia Spencer, who has a 7-1-0 pro record and a 1-1-0 UFC record. This is a lady who took Cris Cyborg 3 rounds before losing via decision. Spencer is going to dominate and get a submission finish in round number 2.
FLYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT: Joseph Benavidez (-145) vs Deiveson Figueiredo (+115)
It’s going to be close. It’s going to be very very close. One of the UFC’s greatest, Joseph Benavidez holds a 28-5-0 pro record with a 21-5-0 record in the UFC. 4 of his 5 losses have come against the champs. 3 losses via Dom Cruz and 2 via Mighty Mouse Johnson. The future Hall of Famer goes against Deiveson Figueiredo. He holds a 17-1-0 pro record and a 6-1-0 UFC record. Joey B is the all around fighter. Fantastic defense with even better offense. Benavidez wins via decision and is crowned the 125 lb champion.
Well. All there really is, is who will the winner of the main event defend the belt against? Henry Cejudo would rather make people cringe on the socials and call out the female champions rather than fight. The next in line is either Jussier Formiga or maybe Marlon Moraez tries to drop a weight class. If Moraes does so, he dominates this 125 lbs for YEARS. Whatever happens, the Flyweight division is going to be interesting.
