Sixers 2020 Player Grades

The Sixers season was definitely a roller coaster. Not even a good one, it’s like one of those wooden ones at an old amusement park. All jokes aside, the team was definitely a whirlwind to watch. The season may or may not resume anytime soon. But, for now we are going to break down each player’s performance this year.

Starting with our captain, Joel Embiid. Joel has had a shaky year. His stats have dropped from his 2018-2019 year. In 2018-2019 he averaged 27.5 points, 13.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists. A great year for JoJo was coming up after coming out and saying he lost 25 pounds in a Youtube video. But, this year everything is lower. To sum it up, I’m going to give Joel a B+. He is still a threat from anywhere on the court, both sides of the ball. Next we have Ben Simmons, he is the best defensive player in the league right now. He leads the league in total steals, steals per game and he also can lock up any position very carelessly. For that, I’m giving him an A.

Now, Josh Richardson did have trouble with his hamstring this whole year. So, I’m not going to go at him too hard. Josh is a very average player. He goes out and does what he has to do at an OK rate. Is he equal to Jimmy? Heck no. But, he is young in our system and young overall? Yes. I’m giving him an average C+. Now, everyone’s favorite: Al Horford. Al has been a waste of $109 million. You have to cut him a sliver of slack because his role does not match what he is known for which is a do-it-all center. But, I’m giving him a C. Tobias has been a bright spot for the Sixers this year. He has played the most minutes in the NBA and is a good offensive weapon at the SF spot. I’m giving him a solid B+.

Moving on to the bench players, these are going to be a little bit more brief. Let’s start with Mike Scott. He has been very unlike himself this year. No deadeye shooting, no fights and no cussing out at referees and other players. I’m giving him a C+. On to Brett Brown’s boyfriend, Raul Neto. I don’t know why Brett started him over Trey Burke, but I’m giving him a D for his lack of impact on the game. Kyle O’Quinn is almost non-existent. He never plays but he is a good guy in the locker room. I’ll be nice and give him a D. Moving on, we have the best defensive rookie in the NBA. Matisse is awesome on defense, but could be much better on offense. I’ll give the Tik Tok star a B. The GOAT himself, Furkan Korkmaz. Most improved player on the Sixers. Great perimeter player and great at taking fouls? Good year from the Turkish LeBron, he is receiving a B.

Glenn Robinson, the door is that way. The dude doesn’t even want to be here and it’s clear. I’ll flunk him and give him an F. Alec Burks, the more pleasant guy out of the trade receives a mediocre C+ for his shooting. Shake has been a great player off the bench for the Sixers and the record book himself will also receive a B+.

The Two-Ways. Marial Shayok has been one of the best if not the best G-League player. He receives a B+. He should expect some playing time if the season ever comes back. Norvel Pelle! Definitely a true fan favorite of mine. He might get in foul trouble but does a hell of a good job doing it. Great interior defender, he will receive a B. Sadly. I’m going to have to give Zhaire a D+. He hasn’t proven himself, but Brett Brown doesn’t even give him a chance.

Let’s all just hope that the season returns! Stay safe out there.
